We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Women’s History Month than by bringing back our Meet The Team series to highlight some of the talented women we work alongside every day. Today, we’re shining a light on the important work of Jr. Mission-Critical Engineer Summer Watts.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My days are typically spent checking the building management system, making sure there aren’t any abnormal alarms, and completing my rounds
What is your favorite part of being on the Novva team?
Hands down, it has to be working with the team here at Novva! Management is incredibly understanding, and that approach filters down to everyone on the team. Your coworkers have such a significant impact on your outlook regarding work, and I am very happy to say the impact here is extremely positive.
If you could trade roles with someone else at Novva for the day, who would it be and why?
I would have to say our CEO, Wes. He manages so much and has a hand in so many powerful aspects and decisions. I think it would be really fascinating to spend a day walking in his shoes.
What trend in the industry are you most excited about?
Not so much a trend, but just an aspect I’m excited about is learning more about our facilities and how they work once fully operational. There are so many moving parts when it comes to projects of this scale and I want to understand as much as I can.
Outside of work, what’s something you’re passionate about?
I’m passionate about cooking, fashion, and arts and crafts
What would you be doing if you weren’t working in the data center/tech/telecom industry?
More than likely I’d either work as a welder (I have a bit of experience here) or I’d stay in the IT industry in another role.
What is something that you think would surprise people to hear about you?
That I was a welder for 2 years.
What is the one thing you would bring with you to a desert island?
A fire starter — it’s a true essential when it comes to wilderness survival, no matter the environment.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Do unto others as you would like done unto you.”
